Privacy Policy
What this site is
GrindSAT is a free, browser-only SAT practice site: a College Board question bank viewer, SAT Made Easy and Skill Builder practice sets, and four study games (SAT Quest, SAT Run, Margin Guard, and Ink Rally). There is no account required to practice. Most data stays in your browser.
Data stored in your browser
The site uses your browser’s localStorage. It does not set its own tracking cookies for ads or
marketing. Typical keys include:
-
Question bank: a cached College Board question index (
qbank-index-v3), your answer history (qbank-answer-logs: question id, whether you were correct, your response, time spent, and a timestamp), and which mode you last used (qbank-mode). -
Games: progress saves for SAT Quest (
graphite-save-v1), SAT Run (inkrun-save-v1), Margin Guard (margin-guard-v1), and Ink Rally (ink-rally-v1), plus a shared question-pool cache for games (sat-games-questions-v1). -
Calculator window: the size and position of the Desmos panel
(
desmos-window-v1).
You can clear this data with your browser’s site data controls, or by using the site’s cache-clear action where available (that clears the question index and answer logs). Clearing browser storage removes local progress that has not been synced elsewhere.
Google sign-in and cloud sync (optional)
The site includes optional Google sign-in through Firebase Authentication and cloud sync through Cloud
Firestore. When configured and turned on, signing in lets the site store your Google account identifiers
(such as user id, display name, email, and profile photo URL from Google) and sync your SAT Quest save
(graphite-save-v1) and question-bank answer logs (qbank-answer-logs) to a Firestore
document under your user id. Sync runs about every 15 seconds while signed in and when you leave the page.
As of this policy’s effective date, Firebase is not configured on the live site (firebaseConfig
is unset), so Google sign-in and cloud sync are switched off. Progress still saves in this browser only.
When sign-in is enabled later, it will work as described above.
Third-party services the site talks to
-
College Board question API: the browser requests question lists and details from
qbank-api.collegeboard.orgso you can practice official Digital SAT / PSAT-style items. Those requests go from your browser to College Board’s servers. -
Static practice content: SAT Made Easy and Skill Builder questions load from this site’s
own static files (for example
/sme-bank.jsonand/skill-builder/). - Desmos: the graphing calculator can load scripts from Desmos.
- MathJax and other CDNs: math rendering and some libraries (for example PeerJS for live races) may load from public CDNs such as jsDelivr.
- Ink Rally live races: if you race a friend, PeerJS’s public broker helps the two browsers find each other; race traffic then goes peer-to-peer over WebRTC. We do not run a game server that stores your race answers.
-
Vercel Web Analytics: pages load Vercel’s insights script
(
/_vercel/insights/script.js) for aggregate traffic metrics on the host. See Vercel’s documentation for how that product handles data. - Hosting: the static site is hosted on Vercel; the host sees normal web request logs (IP address, user agent, URL, and similar) as with any website.
TikTok (site owner / GrindSAT Studio)
GrindSAT uses TikTok’s Login Kit and Content Posting API only to upload SAT study videos (GrindSAT Studio
explainer videos) to the site owner’s own TikTok account, with that owner’s permission. It requests only the
scopes needed for that purpose: user.info.basic, video.upload, and later
video.publish. It does not collect data from other TikTok users. Access tokens can be revoked in
TikTok’s settings.
This TikTok integration is for the owner’s publishing workflow. It is not a feature that asks everyday practice users to connect TikTok.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not run third-party advertising networks on the practice pages.
- We do not claim certifications or compliance labels (for example GDPR “adequacy” or SOC 2) beyond what is described here.
Children
The site is a general education tool for SAT preparation. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through a dedicated kids’ signup. Optional Google sign-in, when enabled, uses Google’s account flow and age rules.
Changes
If this policy changes in a material way, we will update the effective date on this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you are using the site under the updated policy.
